
Tony Cowdrey is an independent security consultant, specialising in Crisis and Risk Management, providing operational support and guidance to a number of UK companies. He has close links to the UK Government and their International partners, as well as national and international police and intelligence services.
Tony spent a lengthy career in the Army, serving as a member of the Intelligence Corps, predominantly on the covert operational side. In his final tour he was seconded to the Home Office, to coordinate the security arrangements for individuals considered to be at risk from terrorism, including two Prime Ministers, senior Cabinet Ministers, MPs, senior military figures and UK Special Forces.
Between 2000 and 2005, Tony held two key posts in the Home Office: he conducted a review into the security of the Royal Family and then headed up the UK National Counter Terrorist Exercise Planning Staff, forming close international partnerships with the USA, Canada and Australia. In addition, Tony was a regular attendee at the UK Government Crisis Centre (COBR), where he represented the Home Office during suspected terrorist matters.
Prior to becoming an independent consultant in 2007, Tony was a director of a Crisis Management company, where he led on supporting the UK Government in Crisis Management training and policy development in the Oil and Gas Industry, as well as addressing the threat to UK ports from the terrorist introduction of hazardous material. Tony also successfully designed and delivered a ‘Post Crisis’ policy-developing exercise for the UN in Geneva, bringing together a number of Under Secretary-Generals and the Head of Interpol.
Tony has gained wide spread national and international respect for his Crisis and Risk Management skills and above all his ability to engage all stakeholders in the process of delivering bespoke best practice solutions.
