Despite the differing opinions on globalisation, one fact is clear: we are all now living in an increasingly accessible world, where activity linked to money, goods, people and technology is much more fluid and flexible. This provides an attractive environment for international criminal networks to operate and thrive in. As criminal networks have become more sophisticated so has their methodology, including the use of technology.
As a consequence, criminals are also thinking more holistically around how best to target individuals, by increasingly attacking the secondary component targets within the individual's family environment, such as where they live, where they work and when they travel.
